Carving the Arcadia Pendant- slightly abbreviated
November 5th, 2010MusingsMegan 3 Comments

I’d been itching to make a big pendant; something that is dramatic and has as strong presence. This is the piece that emerged.

I didn’t start with a formal drawing this time, I just started sketching on the wax.
Blocking out, and roughly carving the wax.

Fine tuning the carving, i.e. “making it pretty”

And after it was magically turned into silver.

I mean that sincerely: I’ve been doing this since I was 15 and I still find the transformation from wax to metal to be magic. I never know exactly how it will look, but I’m excited to see.

I would love to learn how to do this! I’ve carved a lot of stamps, but not wax. That must feel so awesome to cast it and see your finished product.

I’m following from the Etsy forum. I would love it if you would follow back.

You should definitely try wax carving! If you’re already carving stamps I’m sure you’d be very good at it.

  3. I find the whole process amazing to see something go from a drawing to a pendant. Beautifully done.
